Anyone who knows Georgia Simmerling would describe her as: resilient, motivated, confident, a powerhouse. Georgia sees what she wants and makes it happen.
After a successful career of Alpine Skiing, including the Olympic Games in 2010, Georgia switched to the Canadian Ski Cross National Team. With five World Cups under her belt, 2014 Sochi Olympics appearance and a world ranking of 2nd place, Georgia is one of Canada’s favourites for a podium at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
With her 2014/2015 ski season season cut short due to injury, she decided to take on a new challenge and quickly became one of the best track cyclists in the world in under a year, as a member of the Canadian Track Cycling National Team.
In Georgia’s first appearance at the Canadian Nationals she was a National Champion. In her very first Track Cycling World Cup, she helped her team win the Track Cycling World Cup overall title. Georgia was then selected to race in the 2016 Track Cycling World Championships where Team Canada won silver.
In true Georgia fashion, she gave it her all at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio where her and her teammates took home a bronze medal for Canada in the team pursuit cycling event.
